Robert Tunno | Co-inventor of the SandSave Drain System for Golf Course Sand Traps

Robert Tunno is an accomplished executive and entrepreneur with a robust background in industrial management, manufacturing, and private equity. He holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh's Katz School of Business and a BS in Management from The Pennsylvania State University and also completed the Tuck Executive Management Program at Dartmouth College.

Mr. Tunno began his career in various management roles including Industrial Engineer, Production Supervisor, Production Manager, and Materials Manager.

Mr. Tunno worked in management for 20 plus years for TransTechnology Corporation (NYSE), where he made significant strides in executive leadership and served as President of two subsidiaries including Breeze Industrial Products, a leading manufacturer of stainless-steel clamps and Federal Laboratories, a world leader in the manufacture and distribution of law enforcement products. During this time, he secured several patents for innovations at Breeze. In time, Mr. Tunno advanced to a corporate officer role as President of the Industrial Products Group, overseeing 13 divisions across five countries.

Following TransTechnology's decision to divest the Industrial Products Group, Mr. Tunno led a management buyout of 2 divisions, in partnership with Industrial Growth Partners (IGP). Under his leadership as Chairman and CEO, combined revenues doubled in less than 4 years, through organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

Mr. Tunno co-founded Centricity Corporation, a manufacturer of rotary indexing tables for automation based in Girard, Ohio. He served as Chairman and CEO until 2021, guiding the company through decades of growth and industry changes.

Mr. Tunno was a special advisor to IGP, a private equity firm in San Francisco. His advisory roles included serving as Board Chairman of Xaloy Corporation, Board Member of Microporous, and special advisor to Ideal-Tridon.

He also held board positions with Tecum Capital, a Mezzanine lender specializing in SBA loans, the Indiana County Industrial Development Corporation (ICDC), Penn State Advisory Board for Outreach, and the Penn State Online MBA (iMBA) Advisory Board.

In 2021, Mr. Tunno co-invented the SandSave drain system, an innovative solution for preventing flooded sand traps on golf courses. He founded SandSave LLC and is currently leading the company's growth efforts as Managing Partner.

The Penn State CITY Center, now called The Franco Harris Pittsburgh City Center at Penn State was the vision of Robert and Patricia Tunno and was underwritten by Mr. and Mrs. Tunno as a program designed to mentor at-risk youth.
